Stretch Your Energy Dollar > Thinking Of Converting To Gas? Don't.

"In 95 out of 100 cases, it makes economic sense to stick with oil, and if an energy-related investment is desired, to invest in conservation."
    - Consumer Energy Council of America

Let's state the facts right now: Oilheat costs less than gas heat ... is safer than gas heat ... and is more efficient than gas heat ... among other benefits. Besides, why would you want to shell out upwards of $4,000 for the gas company to rip up your property and generally upset your life and then pay more to heat your home? That just doesn't make any sense. Save money and gain peace of mind - stick with Oilheat.

Oilheat costs less than gas heat.
For 11 of the last 12 years, Oilheat has been less expensive than utility gas ... even with the price-per-gallon increases we've seen during the 2004-05 heating season; intact, on the New York Mercantile Exchange, (where energy contracts are bought and sold), at one point this heating season natural gas traded at 93% higher than its closing price the year before!!! All energy prices are higher, but oilheat is still the best way.

Your EnergyOilheat is better for our environment than gas heat.
As reported in September 2004 issue of Oil & Energy, A recent German study shows that heating oil is more environmentally friendly than natural gas, in terms of overall emissions. The report states, "In an analysis of global warming potential using a time horizon of 20 years, natural gas heating is notably more environmentally damaging than oil heating." The most significant natural gas emissions from production to end use occur in production, processing and transport.

Oilheat is more efficient than gas heat.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, on average, heating oil equipment is 16% more efficient than utility gas.

Oilheat rates are easier to understand than gas heat rates.
Keyspan actually has a section on its web site where you can view gas rates for your zip code. Try it - you'll find that if you ask for "all monthly rates and surcharges" you'll view nearly 50 columns of numbers! Do you get it? We don't. With Oilheat rates, what you see is what you get.

Oilheat upgrades cost less than gas conversions ... and save you more money.
A conversion of your oil-heating system to gas can cost as much as $6,000* - including installation, a new chimney liner, water heater and tank removal - and if there's little or no savings on the fuel you use, then there's no payback from this substantial investment. But by upgrading to a new technologically advanced Oilheat system - with a greater combustion efficiency than a gas heat system - you would spend only about half that amount and cut your fuel bills by upwards of 25%!

Oilheat is safer than gas heat.
Unlike natural gas, fuel oil is not explosive and inhalation of fuel oil fumes is not fatal. What's more, if you have a system malfunction, an oil-heating system will give you tell-tale signs such as smoke, odors or even soot before releasing dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, (CO). Gas heating systems give you no warning of CO production or release.

With Oilheat, you get warm, personal service.
With Oilheat, you receive personalized, "I'll-be-right-over" service from a local distributor who knows you and your heating system. One call is all it takes. Contrast that with trying to get service from your local gas utility. In fact, customer satisfaction surveys indicate that the utilities generally tend to be bureaucratic and unresponsive toward their customers. To them, you're just an account number. To us, you're a valued customer.
