This heating season, the price of heating oil - as well as the prices of all energy prices across the board - are significantly higher than they were last year. There were many reasons - including increased energy demand in China, the continuing conflict in Iraq, strikes in Venezuela, unrest in Nigeria and hurricanes in the USA. Even more significantly, a "fear factor" among energy investors caused even a perceived change in conditions to drive prices up.
